Carne Guisada. It's one of those recipes that Nana Rosa (Grandma) doesn't even have written down. It's a dash of this. A handful of that. You know, some beef and tomatoes. How many? You know... Enough.
Well, we've gleaned the recipe from numerous creations and derived a formula you can follow to have Homemade Carne Guisada in your kitchen.
Instructions: Toss the cut beef in the flour and salt and pepper mixture to coat and season. Set aside. Throw all the ingredients in a crock pot and cook.
When it's done, brown some flour in a skillet and add the amount of flour and water needed to thicken appropriately and create the amount of gravy you want.
Yes, I know you want to know exactly how much water and flour to add, but its not only a personal preference, but varies based on the water content of your ingredients.
Ingredients:
Tips: Cooking time varies based on the setting of your crock pot. But if you were to cook it covered on a stove, you would simmer it for three hours.
Low-Fat Options: It's fairly low fat as it is, just make sure you choose a lean cut of beef.
